    Our Mission

During colonial times, Hill Stations developed out of the desire of the colonial elite to have a retreat from the hot, humid summers in tropical Asia. These hill station towns are dotted throughout the mountains of northern India, Malaysia, Burma, and Vietnam to name a few. Hill Stations were situated in beautiful mountain locations that took advantage of cool breezes of higher elevation as well as gorgeous overlooks to reflect and retreat. In the past, only a select few could experience this. Now, anyone with a plane ticket and a guesthouse reservation can experience these same hill stations. What was once exclusive is now open to everyone with a sense of adventure. The concept of a Hill Station brings to mind a beautiful, restful retreat where one can feel at ease and at home away from the heat and bustle of modern life. As you drink a cup of Hillstation Coffee it will stir your imagination and bring thoughts of these mountaintop locations with cool mornings and beautiful mountain jungle vistas.

Joshua Ringer (Co founder), On his mountain bike visiting villages in the Philippines

    From Mountain Farmers to You

I spent my early life in Southeast Asia. First Laos and then Thailand. My parents worked with rural Thai farmers and for a time with Cambodian refugees on the Thai Border. I grew up taking many family vacations to the Cameron Highlands of Malaysia, where my family would stay in a beautiful colonial era villa. My brothers and I would explore the forested areas around the villa, and the family enjoyed hiking trails together in the rainforest. I was able to pass on this love of the Hill Station retreat with my wife and children as I worked in Agricultural work in Vietnam and Thailand. My family also fell in love with the mountain retreats in Malaysia and Vietnam. They loved the coolness of the mountains and exploring the rainforests and tea and coffee plantations just as I had. A main passion I have is to help resource poor mountain farmers. Shade grown specialty Coffee is a great crop because the best beans are grown underneath taller native trees.

    Growing Up in the Mountains

I was born in Chiang Mai, Thailand to Joshua & Crystal Ringer, and grew up in Vietnam and Thailand before moving back to the US. My fondest memories were made while visiting villages in Southeast Asia with My family and exploring the continent, visiting places like Bangkok, Saigon, Angkor Wat, Singapore, and the Cameron Highlands. I spent most of that time doing what you can imagine a young girl would in that environment- making new friends, playing with My siblings, getting dirty and loving life. When I moved back to the US I never lost that adventurous side of myself as I settled into the typical teenage girl. As My love for coffee and longing for my birthplace grew I decided to embark on this next adventure of becoming a business owner with my dad, and sharing the coffee I loves with family and friends all over the world.
